Taco Salad

Would somebody please take pity on me and give me a good Taco Salad recipe?  When other people make Taco Salad I want to (and sometimes succeed) eat it all.

When I make Taco Salad, we suffer through and think not of the epicurean delight, but of more practical things like high protein content.

HELP.  P-p-p-p-piglet.  Me.

  1. I’ll see if I can find Dr. Guth’s recipe. It was really good. If I can’t find it, ask Todd Milledge – he is the one who gave it to me.

  2. This is the Leukert recipe… ALWAYS gone at potlucks.. not your typical “taco salad”, though, with sour cream or ranch and such… but very, VERY good..

    1 head of lettuce, chopped
2 cans of kidney beans (drained or undrained is always argued.. I suppose it just depends on how juicy you like it..)
    1 can of vegeburger
    1 bottle of French dressing
1 onion, chopped small (amount of onion also depends on your taste)
1 package of taco seasoning (we never have this on hand… which is unfortunate)
shredded cheese (I forget how much is in the original recipe, but we always just go without and it tastes the same..)
    4 med tomatoes, chopped
1 bag of nacho doritos, smushed

    Combine all. Eat. Enjoy.

This makes a VERY large batch, though… we always half it for the two of us and have leftovers…

  3. I have never heard of taco salad but it sound very delicious. Maybe when my mom asks me to cook again I will make a taco salad. The recipe looks easy. I have never heard somebody in South Africa talk about a taco salad, but I’m so giving it a try.
